Here to Help you Learn to Unlearn

Hi all, I have made this site to document my thoughts and feelings about what is going on in the world. The purpose of this site is to collate the material and words that have resonated with people on my social media pages, and put them onto this clear and cohesive website.

Please remember, I am no expert in anything but my experience. I am Black, but I am still learning too. Like many, I am just trying to learn better and articulate my feelings towards topics that affect me personally better. I encourage my readers to do the same as YOUR VOICE IS IMPORTANT TOO.

I hope what I have to say resonates with you in some way,

“In an argument with a white family member, I listened to him refer to different ethnic groups as “their own breed”. It baffled me how easy it was for him to dehumanise people who weren’t white. However, it was important for me to keep in mind that Racism is not a personality trait; it is taught. My family member was taught by a society that subliminally teaches us that Black is bad. ‘To be the Black sheep’ seemed like a harmless way to describe the odd one out in the family. However, beyond the surface, it implies that Black is bad, Black is the odd one out, Black is the disgrace. I hope this site helps you learn to unlearn what society has fed us.”

Note for Readers:
For all those people overwhelmed with the media right now, I will be posting other blog posts such as film reviews, music reviews, journalling tips, general nonsense etc etc 🙂

“What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have.”

Oprah Winfrey

Where you can, whenever you can, keep expressing yourself – it’s your power!

I thoroughly recommend this documentary on Channel 4. They are back again in schools, talking with children and helping them understand how Racism is taught. You can catch the first two episodes by clicking the link below.
